The Willacy County Young Farmers organization was founded over 30 years ago in Raymondville, Texas. It is a group of individuals from all walks of life that have a special interest in the field of agriculture. The Young Farmers provide members continuing education and an outlet for community service.

As a member of the State Association of Young Farmers, the Willacy County Chapter has been awarded "Outstanding Chapter in the State of Texas" status more than any other chapter to date. This recognition is a result of the hard work and dedication of the officers and members of the WCYF. Chapters are rated on their community service activities and other projects throughout each calendar year. Some of the projects we are involved with include the following: scholarships for graduating Willacy County seniors, Channel 5's Teach the Children, Willacy County Livestock Fair & Auction, Child Protective and Regualtory Services, sponsorships for FFA students' animals in area stock shows, toy donations for underpriveleged area children, Willacy County Little League, donations to Muscular Dystrophy Association and Port Mansfield Chamber of Commerce, among others.

The majority of our fund raising efforts focus on the upcoming fishing tournament. This year's tournament will be held Memorial Day weekend at Port Mansfield, Texas. We encourage both individuals and businesses to consider sponsoring our tournament. The WCYF greatfully accepts donations of services, products, and capital in order to continue funding our charitable projects.

The Willacy County Young Farmers meet on the first Wednesday of each month, excluding June, July, and August. Meetings are held in Raymondville starting at 7 p.m., with a meal served after close of the meeting.
